How to Get Prescription Refills During the COVID-19 Pandemic

By now, we’re all familiar with the rules of the pandemic – stay home to stay safe because by staying home you are helping to slow the spread of the virus. This means it’s important to make sure you have all the food, household supplies and medications you need on hand. You may also consider limiting your trips to the pharmacy as much as possible and using a medication home delivery service like ours!

What if I need to visit my pharmacy in-person?

If you absolutely need to make an in-person visit to your pharmacy, be sure to check their hours first before heading out. To avoid making repeat trips, bring a list of your medications when picking them up so you don’t forget any. You can also ask the pharmacist to time your refills so all medications can be refilled on the same schedule, if possible. Make sure you leave at least 6 feet of space between you and the next customer in line and take the proper precautions to wash your hands once you return home. rx refills

How do I know if I’m eligible for a prescription refill?

To see if you’re eligible for a prescription refill, you can always call your pharmacy and ask them to look it up for you. Chain pharmacies may ask for ID or your prescription card before giving you a refill, which may require an in-person visit. However, at Medly, we manage your refills for you – we’ll even make sure to send them to you on time, so you don’t have to keep track of the dates! We’ll coordinate with your doctor and insurance company to make sure you never run out of your medication. Of course, you can always call us to check on the status of your prescription as well.

Should I have a supply of medication at home?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recommended keeping an extra supply of medication on hand, just in case you’re self-quarantined or need to stay home for a prolonged period of time. The typical recommendation is to have a supply that will see you through the next seven to ten days, but it may be better to have an even larger medication supply during the coronavirus outbreak. prescription
